Russian artists perform on stage in Dhaka. Russian National Unity Day was celebrated with cultural programs. The event was jointly organized by the Russian Association of International Cooperation and Russian Friendship Society with Bangladesh at the Russian Embassy in Bangladesh on Saturday (4 November).
Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Mantytsky said the National Unity Day of Russia has a deep significance for the people of Russia. National unity is a symbol of Russia's multi-confessional and multi-ethnic coexistence. It is driving our country towards power and prosperity.
He thanked the President of Russian Friendship Society with Bangladesh, Mia Sattar, for his contribution to organizing the event.
Mia Sattar, president of Russian Friendship Society with Bangladesh, said the contribution of education and cultural exchange will play an essential role in developing Bangladesh-Russia bilateral relations in the coming days. Under the organization's initiative, there will be a Russian University and Russian International School in Dhaka. Higher studies and research on the Russian language will be conducted in these institutions.
He said a sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect of Bangladesh's independence, will be installed in Moscow to strengthen friendly relations with Russia, which stood by Bangladesh in the great Liberation War of 1971. The Russian Foreign Ministry has confirmed this. Bangabandhu Memorial Trust has also been contacted. On the other hand, a sculpture of Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, the world's first astronaut, will be given to Bangabandhu Novotheater in Dhaka.
The cultural group 'Dance of Siberia' of the Siberian State Academy enthralled the audience. This is the first time the group is performing on a Bangladeshi stage. This is one of the best dance groups in Russia in the genre of stage folk dances.
Planning Minister MA Mannan, Mayor Atiqul Islam, political leaders, ambassadors, high commissioners, media, and business personalities were present.
