Sub-Inspector Jahangir Alam is a well-known name on social media, particularly Facebook, for his work on public awareness videos.
He has also acquired a gold medal as a humanitarian policeman from the police department for his non-stop work.
Alam's videos cover a wide range of topics, including how to make a GD at the police station, why there is a warrant for a case, what is a recall, where to submit a recall, what is bail, and which crime is not easy to bail.
He also uploads videos on Beat Policing, a community-based policing initiative aimed at preventing theft, robbery, eviction, and child marriage.
Alam's videos are particularly popular among less educated, low-income, and remote village people who often lack access to legal services.
His Facebook page currently has over two million followers and his videos receive numerous positive comments from beneficiaries.
Alam, who is from Chilmari of Kurigram district is currently posted at Dhanbari Police Station in Tangail, says “My job is to serve the country and the people, and that I believe that my videos can help to create a more orderly society. I am committed to continuing his social media mission for the rest of his life.”
