Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah has asserted that the ACC is committed to avoiding any actions that might impede the upcoming national elections.
He emphasised that in anticipation of the national elections, the Commission will undertake all necessary measures in accordance with the Representation of the People Order (RPO) and the ACC Act.
Chairman Abdullah made these remarks during an interaction with journalists on Tuesday afternoon at the ACC's conference room in observance of the 19th anniversary of the ACC.
The ACC chairman has affirmed the ACC's commitment to meeting the public's expectations by actively combatting and preventing corruption. He stressed the importance of public cooperation with the ACC's efforts in this regard.
While acknowledging the significance of the ACC Act, Chairman Abdullah underscored that the complete eradication of corruption requires collaborative efforts from other government agencies engaged in suppression and resistance.
In emphasising the collective responsibility in the fight against corruption, he urged other government entities to actively participate in controlling corruption. According to Chairman Abdullah, a comprehensive approach involving multiple agencies is necessary to effectively address and curtail corrupt practices.
Commissioner (Investigation) Zahurul Haque has clarified that the ACC will remain focused on its mission to combat corruption. However, he assured that during the election period, the ACC will refrain from taking any actions that may interfere with the electoral process. He emphasised that the ACC has no intention to harm any election candidate.
Commissioner (Investigation) Acchia Khatun has articulated the ACC’s dedication to preventing corruption from becoming ingrained in the culture of the country. She highlighted corruption as a pervasive and destructive force that extends its influence across various sectors, including education and culture.
In urging collective action, Commissioner Acchia Khatun called upon all citizens to unite in the fight against corruption. She emphasised that patriotism stands as the paramount capital for individuals in this endeavor.
The meeting was presided over by ACC Secretary Md. Mahbub Hossain and attended by several key officials, including Director General (Administration) Rezwanur Rahman, Deputy Director (Administration) Mohammad Moniruzzaman Bakaul, Deputy Director (Public Relations) Aktarul Islam, and members of the media.
In the morning session, the commission engaged in discussions with ACC officials, covering various aspects of their work. Additionally, exchange meetings took place at integrated district offices and divisional offices.
