Education, Research and Development Forum of Bangladesh (ERDFB) has condemned the statement of US civil society platform ‘Right to Freedom’ supporting specific political force posing risks for democracy in the country.
ERDFB, a platform of top notched academicians in Bangladesh, sincerely condemned the one-sided statement of Washington-based platform at a point when people in Bangladesh are waiting for voting festival on January 7 election.
Earlier on December 29, Right to Freedom President William B Milam urged the US government to review all aspects of its relationship with Bangladesh raising question on free and fair election in Bangladesh.
Noted academician and ERDFB President Prof Sazzad Hossain said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ensured equal space for all political ideology as candidates of 30 out of 44 parties are contesting in the January 7 general election.
“The so-called rights group mentioned concern from foreign countries. However, 180 observers from 35 countries applied for monitoring January 7 election of which 10 countries confirmed their participation so far. Election Commission is playing zero-tolerance role for ensuring peaceful atmosphere for a credible election,” he said.
The platform of educationists further claimed that US and western quarters have been involved in destroy peace and democracy deploying troops different corners of the world.
“The Western quarters are fueling war for enhancing arms trading and Gulf protectorates paying a million dollars for each purchasing missile. Arab countries like Iraq, Libya, Yemen, and Syria have been destroying in planned manner where people displaced and wealth looted. More than 21 thousand Palestinians have been killed so far,” added ERDFB president.
Prof Sazzad has urged the people including youths to give reply to foreign conspiracy against independent Bangladesh through joining the festival of democracy and cast vote on January 7 general election.
