The government has confirmed that the notification circulating on Facebook announcing a holiday across the country from 5 to 8 January for the general election is fake.
The Ministry of Public Administration in a notification on Wednesday said that a general holiday has been declared on 7 January to facilitate the exercise of voting rights and voting.
"But it has been noticed that a fake notification declaring 5-8 January as a holiday for the 12th parliamentary election is circulating on various social media platforms, which is not issued by the Public Administration Ministry," the notification said.
The ministry concerned has requested everyone not to consider the false notification.
According to the notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on the occasion of the election, the official election holiday has been declared across the country from 5 to 8 January as per the demand of the Election Commission. Legal action, including financial penalties, will be taken against those who ignore the holiday announcement.
