Education Research & Development Forum of Bangladesh (ERDFB) has condemned the sabotage over train communication in Bangladesh in name of political violence that claims couple of innocent lives.
ERDFB, an apex platform of top-notched university faculties, have urged the political parties to support the democracy instead of violence on eve of twelfth parliamentary election.
At least four people were killed and several injured as a moving train was set on fire at Gopibagh in Bangladesh capital Dhaka Friday evening, the eve of the BNP’s hartal, or shutdown, aimed to disrupt the Jan 7 vote.
In a statement on Saturday, ERDFB President Prof Sazzad Hossain said that the BNP-Jamaat alliance restarted the arson-based politics when the country appears to a peaceful elections in participation with majority of registered parties.
“As a peaceful country, Bangladesh allows meeting, rallies and strike as per constitutional rights of people. However, the constitution never allows the arson attack on train or any type of sabotage in name of political activities,” said Hossain, a member of University Grants Commission (UGC) in Bangladesh.
The academician has urged all including youths to go polling centre to cast vote for flourishing democracy in the country and to give a befitting answer to the anti-democratic force.
