The districts of Chuadanga and Naogaon have recorded the lowest temperature in Bangladesh on Wednesday (10 January). The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) reported this as part of a mild to moderate cold wave currently sweeping across the country.

This morning, the BMD recorded a temperature of 10.2 degrees Celsius in both Chuadanga and Naogaon’s Badalgacchi, marking it as the lowest temperature registered in the country on Wednesday.

The BMD's latest bulletin indicates that moderate to thick fog is likely to occur over the country from midnight to morning, and may continue till noon in some areas. This foggy condition could temporarily disrupt air navigation, inland river transport, and road communication.

Despite the cold wave, the weather is expected to remain dry, with a temporary partly cloudy sky across Bangladesh. The BMD anticipates a slight rise in night temperatures, while day temperatures are likely to stay nearly unchanged nationwide.

The forecast also suggests that cold day conditions, primarily due to the fog, may prevail in different parts of the country.

Reporting from Chuadanga, the UNB correspondent noted local effects of the weather. Rakibul Hasan, a senior observer at the Chuadanga Weather Observatory Centre, confirmed the morning's low temperature of 10.2 degrees Celsius. This chilly weather has significantly disrupted daily life in the district, with residents braving the cold to engage in their fieldwork.
