The Awami League emerged victorious in the 12th general election, securing Sheikh Hasina's fourth consecutive term as prime minister. The swearing-in ceremony for Sheikh Hasina and her new cabinet is scheduled for 7pm on Thursday at Bangabhaban, the presidential residence.

All necessary preparations are complete for the event, where Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will allocate responsibilities among her cabinet colleagues post-oath.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin will administer the oath to the incoming cabinet, while Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain will oversee the ceremony for the new ministers. In anticipation of this occasion, arrangements have been made for a program hosting approximately 1,400 guests at Bangabhaban.

The Cabinet Division has already notified all prospective ministers and state ministers to attend the program and take their oaths. The new cabinet will include a mix of current and former ministers and state ministers along with some new faces.

Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain on Wednesday said the new cabinet would have 37 members, including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The winners of the general election took the oath of office as MPs on Wednesday. Later, Sheikh Hasina was chosen as the leader of the House.

The president then appointed Sheikh Hasina as prime minister, giving his consent for the formation of a new cabinet under her leadership.

The Awami League secured an absolute majority after winning 222 seats in Sunday’s election.
