Mysterious death of the director of the environment department and his wife

Director of Environment Department (Dhaka Region) Syed Najmul Ahsan (56) and his wife Nahid Binte Alam (48) have died mysteriously. The officer in Charge (OC) of Mirpur Police Station Sheikh Md Kamruzzaman confirmed the death.

Syed Nazmul Ahsan died at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital (ShSMC) on Wednesday (Feb 21) afternoon. On Thursday (Feb 22), his wife Nahid Binte Alam died in the morning while undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).

The Officer in Charge (OC) of Mirpur Police Station said that both the husband and wife fell ill at Mirpur 2 Officers Complex yesterday. Later, the family took Nazmul Ahsan to ShSMC where the doctor declared him dead.

At the same time, his sick wife Nahid Binte Alam was admitted to BSMMU. She died there while undergoing treatment.

He also said that Syed Najmul Ahsan was the Director of the Environment Department of Dhaka Region. The two daughters of this couple, one is 12 years old and the other is 15 years old. The exact cause of their death will be known after getting the post-mortem report. The matter is being investigated.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Mirpur Division. Jasim Uddin Molla said both bodies have been preserved. The bodies of the dead couple have been kept at Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
