Five new State Ministers, a Whip of the parliament and 42 female Members of parliament (MPs) from reserved seats paid their rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Tungipara on Wednesday (6 March).
They placed floral wreaths at the mausoleum of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at noon.
After placing wreaths, the State Ministers and MPs stood in solemn silence for some time at the mausoleum.
Later, they offered Fateha and joined a munajat seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his family members who were brutally killed by some disgruntled army men on the dreadful night of August 15, 1975, and also the martyrs of the Liberation War.
The newly-appointed State Ministers and MPs from reserved seats also prayed for good health and longevity of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the eldest daughter of Bangabandhu, who escaped the planned assassination with her sister Sheikh Rehana as they were staying in Germany then.
The State Minister are--- State Minister for Finance Waseqa Ayesha Khan, State Minister for Education Begum Shamsunnahar, State Minister for Planning Md Shahiduzzaman Sarker, State Minister for Cultural Affairs Nahid Izhar Khan and State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ministry Begum Rokeya Sultana.
President of Gopalganj district unit Awami League (AL) Mahabub Ali Khan and higher officials of the Gopalganj administration accompanied the new state ministers, MPs and the Whip Advocate Sanjida Khanam.
The state ministers, whip and the female members of parliament also commented on the visitor’s book at the administrative building of the mausoleum.
