Land Minister Narayon Chandra Chanda said the capacity of the Land Reforms Board will be increased.
He said this while addressing as the chief guest at a meeting held to inform the activities of the Land Reforms Board at the board's conference room in Bhumi Bhaban in the capital’s Tejgaon on Tuesday (2 April) evening.
Chairman of the Land Reforms Board, Md Abdus Sabur Mondal, was also present at the event.
Narayon stated that his ministry is directly overseeing various field-level activities during this transitional period of implementing smart land services. He emphasised that after the implementation of the smart land service programme, the agencies under the ministry will be fully responsible for supervising day-to-day activities, with the Ministry of Land playing a regulatory role.
Additionally, he highlighted the importance of identifying khas and government land currently under illegal occupation, as well as identifying water bodies that have been filled or encroached upon. He stressed the need for necessary measures to be taken for their restoration.
The Chairman of the Land Reforms Board pledged to the Land Minister that the board would fulfill its responsibilities under the Ministry of Land's 180-day programme.
Also present at the meeting were Land Reforms Board member Shashanka Shekhar Bhowmik and officials from the Ministry of Land and the Land Reforms Board.
