Boy hurt in crude bomb blast in Nayapaltan

A boy suffered severe splinter injuries after an abandoned crude bomb exploded in Nayapaltan area in the city this afternoon.

The boy was identified as Sanny, 16, a rag picker. He suffered severe injuries in both of his hands and legs.

The boy said he found a shopping bag near an automobile shop while picking rags in the Nayapaltan area. 

An explosion occurred when he started searching inside the bag. 

On receiving information, police first took the boy to Central Police Hospital in Rajarbagh and later shifted him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said sub-inspector of Paltan Police Station Mohammad Ali.

"The boy received splinter injuries legs-hands and other parts of his body," Mohammad Ali said adding that the boy lives in city's Kakrain area with his father Titu Miah. 

Sentu Mia, inspector (investigation) of Paltan Police Station, said they are investigating the incident.
