Investigators have found parts of murdered Jhenaidah-4 MP Anwarul Azim Anar's body in a septic tank at Sanjeeva Garden in Kolkata.

An official of the three-member team of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch (DB) from Bangladesh staying in Kolkata confirmed the news to the media.

DB chief Harun-or-Rashid said they have got circumstantial evidence, and a further inspection would now take place into the sewage line which is connected to the duplex flat where the murder occurred, reports NDTV.

"We inspected the sewage line which is connected with that duplex flat with the help of West Bengal CID. We took help from CID to break the whole sewage line. We are already interrogating the accused butcher at the West Bengal CID headquarters," Harun-or-Rashid told the media.

The DB team went to Kolkata on 26 May to investigate the murder of Jhenaidah-4 MP Anwarul Azim.

Regarding the visit, DB chief Harun-or-Rashid said the team would first visit the crime scene. Later, they would interrogate Jihad Hawladar, a Bangladeshi national working as a butcher in Mumbai, who was arrested earlier and confessed to his involvement in the murder.

They also conducted a search operation at Bagdoba Canal, which is around 7-8 kilometers away from Sanjeeva Garden, the spot of the murder.

Both countries' police launched a rescue operation of the body parts at the Bagdoba canal after Jihad Hawlader said some flesh parts of the body were thrown into that canal.

Earlier on 23 May, a four-member team of Kolkata CID came to Dhaka to quiz the three accused, who are now on remand in Bangladesh after being arrested by the DB police.

The three-time Member of Parliament, Anar, went missing on 13 May after going to Kolkata for treatment purposes a day earlier.

On 22 May morning, the Indian media reported that he was murdered in a house in Kolkata's New Town area.

After that, the police of the two countries started the investigation. Three people were arrested in Bangladesh, and another person was arrested in Kolkata in connection with the murder.
