PM to attend Modi’s adjuration ceremony in New Delhi on Friday

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to leave Dhaka for New Delhi, India on Friday to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony.

Prime Minister's press wing on Thursday confirmed her joining the swearing-in ceremony.

Modi is likely to take the oath as the prime minister of India for the third straight term at 8pm on June 8 as his BJP-led NDA alliance won 293 of the 543 seats in the Lok Sabha elections.

PM Hasina and Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremsinghe are among the foreign leaders who will attend Modi's swearing-in ceremony.

Modi earlier invited Hasina to attend his inauguration ceremony. The Bangladesh PM accepted the invitation. Modi has thanked Hasina for her warm wishes following his election victory.

Hasina was among the first foreign leaders to congratulate Modi on NDA's election victory reflecting the warmth and personal rapport between the two leaders.
