A 22-year-old youth was crushed under the wheels of a freight train in Saltgola rail crossing area in Chattogram early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Idris, son of late Abdul Khaleque of Ulohati village under Nandail upazila of Mymensingh.
He used to live in a rented house in Taltala area under Patenga police station of the city. Witnesses said, a Bandar-bound freight train carrying empty wagons hit the youth around 1am leaving him dead.
SM Shahidul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Government Railway Police (GRP) in Chattogram, said the beheaded body was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. The body will be handed over to the family upon the autopsy, he added.
