Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq Sunday (9 June) said all steps will be taken to dispose of quickly the cases pending before money loan courts to rein in loan default.

"Three more money loan courts will be established in the capital apart from the four existing ones. Two more money loan courts will be established in Chattogram as well. Numbers of money loan courts would be increased if necessary," he said.

The minister said these while talking to newsmen after inaugurating 16th orientation course for Joint District and Sessions Judge and equivalent officials at Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) in the capital.

Anisul Huq said the government wants to bring down the amount of defaulted loan to keep the spree of development going. The minister advised the judges to follow more effectively alternative dispute resolution (ADR) to dispose of loan default cases quickly and emphasised on stopping unreasonable delay by the defendant at trial stage.

He also stressed the need for ensuring accountability on approving loan by banks or other financial institutions and responsibility of defendants in collecting the debts.

Presided over by JATI acting director general Sheikh Ashfakur Rahman, the function was also addressed by Law and Justice Division Secretary Md Golam Sarwar, among others.
