On Tuesday (11 June), the Russian House in Dhaka, in cooperation with Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre, organized an event dedicated to the celebration of Russian Day.
Director of the Russian House in Dhaka P. Dvoychenkov recalled in his welcoming speech that Russian Day is a public holiday of the Russian Federation, a holiday of love and respect for the Motherland, a symbol of national unity.
He also emphasized that cooperation between Russia and Bangladesh in the field of science, culture and education continues to actively develop, especially in the area of increasing the number of quotas of the Government of the Russian Federation for studying in Russian universities for citizens of Bangladesh, and also the interest in learning the Russian language among Bangladeshi students is constantly growing.
The speakers in their speeches recalled with gratitude the assistance of the Soviet Union in the development of Bangladesh, including assistance in the Liberation War and the post-war reconstruction of the country, emphasizing that the independence of Bangladesh would have been impossible without the support of the Soviet Union.
During the event, participants were given a presentation about Russia, its unique architectural monuments and attractions, folk crafts and prominent people, and a cultural program with the performance of Russian songs, prepared by the Russian House in Dhaka jointly with the youth of Bangladesh.

The event was attended by representatives of government, public, youth organizations, scientific and educational institutions, university students, cultural figures of Bangladesh, incl. representatives of the Bangladeshi-Russian Friendship Society, the Association of Alumni of Russian Soviet Universities in Bangladesh and compatriots as well as representative from Mass media.
