Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday (17 June) greeted all the Freedom Fighters (FFs) of the country on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha, the second biggest religious festival of the Muslims.
Like other occasions, the premier sent flowers, fruits and sweetmeats to the war-wounded freedom fighters (FFs) and members of the martyred families and War-wounded Freedom Fighters’ Rehabilitation Centre (Muktijoddha Tower-1) at Gaznavi Road in the capital’s Mohammadpur area as a mark of her good wishes for them.
PM's Assistant Press Secretary A.B.M. Sarwer-e-Alom Sarker handed over the items to them, according to a press release of press wing of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
The war-wounded FFs and members of the martyred families thanked and expressed gratitude to the prime minister for remembering them on every national day and festival like the Independence Day, the Victory Day, Eid and Pahela Baishakh.
They also expressed gratitude to the premier for undertaking massive steps for their rehabilitation including construction of Muktijoddha Tower-1, a 13-storey residential-cum-commercial building in Mohammadpur.
The freedom fighters highy praised the farsighted and strong leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
After assassination of fhe Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1975, the illegal power grabbers did not even evaluated them rather harassed and disrespected them, the freedom fighters said.
The autocratics rullers did not stop there, but they stigmatized the country's glorious history through distortion, they said.
The FFs went on saying that the daughter of the Father of the Nation brought back democracy and established the rule of law in the country upon assuming power in 1996.
She (Sheikh Hasina) also upgraded the freedom fighters's status to a dignified position, they said.
"We're now pleased the most during the tenure of Sheikh Hasina government," she said.
The PM's APS Sarwer in his speech expressed his gratitude to the great sons of the sacred soil, saying, they established Bangali as a victorious nation on the global stage through a nine-month struggle.
He said the Prime Minister has fulfilled all the requirements of making Bangladesh a developing nation by 2021 and has been working tirelessly to build a developed, prosperous and Smart Bangladesh free from hunger and poverty by 2041.
