To reduce government expenditure in the ongoing global economic context, the government has called for stricter austerity measures regarding foreign travel, buying vehicles, and acquiring land at its expense under the current national budget.
Reducing expenditure in several sectors in the wake of global economic conditions, the Finance Division on Thursday (4 July) issued a circular for pursuing austerity in the current fiscal year (FY25) by all the ministries, divisions, subordinate departments, directorates, offices, autonomous bodies, public sector corporations and state-owned companies.
Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmood Ali said austerity will continue on a limited scale in the budget speech for the current financial year. He also mentioned the government will gradually come out of austerity.
