Two members of the Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) and 31 Rohingyas have taken refuge in St Martin's Island of Bangladesh amid the ongoing conflict between the ruling junta and the armed rebel group in the neighbouring country.

A trawler carrying the Myanmar nationals anchored at the island in the early hours of Friday (5 June).

Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Adnan Chowdhury said, “I have also heard the news. Now they are under the custody of the Border Guard of Bangladesh. The BGB, however, has not informed me yet about the matter.”
