West Zone of Bangladesh Railway has earned revenues worth around Taka 1.20 lakh through operating special mango and cattle trains between Chapainawabganj and Dhaka via Rajshahi this year.
Nurul Alam, Additional Commercial Officer of the zone, said the special trains earned the revenues through transporting mangoes and cattle to Dhaka from 10 June to 15.
During the five-day operation, the special train earned revenues worth around Taka 27,345 through transporting 18,146 kilograms of mangoes, while another train Taka 92,820 after transporting 105 cattle in two days.
Howevwe, the mango special train had been launched on 5 June, 2020 for the first time. It has transported 39,95,798 kilograms of mangoes. The train has earned revenues worth Taka 46,29,140 during the last four years from 2020 to 2023.
