Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) Additional Commissioner, Mohammad Harun-Or-Rashid stated that no decision has been made yet regarding the releases of the six coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement.

For security purposes, six coordinators of the quota reform and anti-discrimination student movement are currently under DB custody. They are  Md. Nahid Islam, Md. Sarjis Alam, Hasnat Abdullah, Md. Abu Bakar Majumdar, Asif Mahmud, and Nusrat Tabassum.

However, The aggrieved civil society has issued an ultimatum demanding the unconditional release of these six coordinators and others detained by DB within 24 hours.

Moreover, this ultimatum was given by Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, Executive Director of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), at an event titled "Demand for Justice Against Murder, Illegal Detention, and Torture" held at the DRU Sagar-Runi Auditorium at 12 pm on Tuesday (July 30).

Dr. Iftekharuzzaman said, "We will go to the DB office after this event. We are giving them 24 hours. Within these 24 hours, the detentions must cease, and if the detainees are not released unconditionally, we, the aggrieved civil society, will be compelled to take strong action, including a sit-in in front of the DB office."

"We will proceed directly from here. I believe there may be DB representatives present here. I hope the message reaches them.
