Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has been stated that there has a longstanding demand from pro-Liberation War forces and civil society to ban Jamaat-Shibir. The process to ban Jamaat-Shibir is currently underway, and an announcement may come at any time.
However, he made these remarks at a press conference held at his office in the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday (July 31).
Home Minister said, "Jamaat-Shibir's politics is being banned under Article 18 of the Anti-Terrorism Act. The process is still ongoing. A decision will be announced at any moment. A notification will be issued at any time."
In response to a question, he again said, "Jamaat-Shibir has created the ongoing situation. They have carried out destructive activities using students as a front. Their politics is being banned to bring them to justice."
He also added that August 15 will be observed with due respect, and the highest security measures will be taken for the occasion.
