An interim government, headed by Nobel laureate economist Dr. Muhammad Yunus, is set to be formed on Thursday (8 August). On the same day, the members of the interim government and its advisors will take their oath of office.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will be present at the oath-taking ceremony of the interim government and its advisors.
Shayrul Kabir Khan, a member of BNP's media cell, confirmed this information to the media. He stated that BNP had requested the President to invite all parties that boycotted the elections to the oath-taking ceremony. A delegation of senior BNP leaders, led by the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, will attend the event.
Meanwhile, authorities at Bangabhaban have completed all preparations for the swearing-in of the interim government. It is reported that under Dr. Yunus's leadership, 15 advisors will take the oath.
It is noteworthy that the Awami League government was overthrown in a mass uprising by students and the public on 5 August, and on the same day, Sheikh Hasina, the four-time Prime Minister, left the country for India.
