The state guest house 'Jamuna' has been prepared for Nobel laureate economist Dr. Muhammad Yunus, who is set to take on the role of Chief Adviser to the interim government. It has been reported that 'Jamuna' will serve as both his residence and office.
Following the resignation and departure of the Sheikh Hasina government, enraged citizens entered the Ganabhaban and the Prime Minister's Office, leading to vandalism and looting. As a result, these two locations are currently unsuitable for official use or residence.
The interim government is scheduled to be sworn in on Thursday (August 8) at 9:00 PM, with Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus as the Chief Adviser. A list of 17 members of this interim government has already been made public.
Following the announcement of Dr. Yunus as the Chief Adviser, the furniture and decor at 'Jamuna' have been rearranged to suit his needs.
Officials have stated that after the decision to form the interim government in consultation with the President, the Cabinet Division started working on setting up 'Jamuna' as the Chief Adviser's residence and office.
Md. Shahidul Islam Bhuiyan, Director of the Government Housing Department, told the media, "Once again, the state guest house 'Jamuna' has been allocated for the Chief Adviser by the Protocol Wing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Work has already begun since yesterday, with the Chief Engineer of PWD leading the efforts."
