The son of former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina, Sajeeb Wazed has said that her mother "is back in a leadership role" and is in touch with many Awami League party leaders.
Hasina, who was the prime minister of Bangladesh for 15 years and provided economic stability to the country, was toppled after widespread protests on 5th August. Since then she has been in India, in a safehouse near Ghaziabad, outside Delhi.
Speaking to Indian satellite news channel WION's diplomatic correspondent on Friday, Joy said Hasina has "not applied for asylum in any country" so far and "eventually wants to go back to Bangladesh."
She does not want to spend her life outside, he added.
After Hasina's exit from Bangladesh, a new interim government under Muhammad Yunus has taken charge. Asked about his view on the new government in Dhaka, he termed it an "unconstitutional government".
