Interim Government's Chief Advisor, Professor Muhammad Yunus, has met with senior secretaries and secretaries of the 25 ministries and divisions under his control.
The meeting took place at the Chief Advisor's residence, Jamuna, from 11:15 AM to 1:30 PM on Monday (August 12).
Prior to this, at 10:30 AM, the Chief of Army Staff, General Wakar-uz-Zaman, entered Jamuna and met with the Chief Advisor before leaving at 11:15 AM.
During the meeting with the secretaries, the Chief Advisor provided various directives, according to someone present at the meeting.
ABM Amin Ullah Nuri, Secretary of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, stated that the Chief Advisor emphasized creating a transparent and accountable environment, addressing the issues raised by the youth of the country—particularly in terms of transparency and establishing a fair working environment. He also stressed the importance of carrying out tasks with care.
The ministries and divisions under the responsibility of Chief Advisor Yunus include: the Cabinet Division; Ministry of Defence; Armed Forces Division; Ministry of Education; Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges; Ministry of Food; Ministry of Housing and Public Works; Ministry of Land; Ministry of Textiles and Jute; Ministry of Agriculture; Ministry of Science and Technology; Ministry of Railways; Ministry of Public Administration; Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources; Ministry of Shipping; Ministry of Water Resources; Ministry of Women and Children Affairs; Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief; Ministry of Information and Broadcasting; Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment; Ministry of Commerce; Ministry of Labour and Employment; Ministry of Cultural Affairs; Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism; and Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.
Following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government amid a mass movement of students and citizens, Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus took leadership of the interim government, which began its journey last Thursday amidst the chaotic situation across the country. On that day, Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus and 13 advisors took the oath from the President. Later, on Sunday, two more advisors were sworn in.
Among the 17 members of this interim government, one is a valiant freedom fighter of Operation Jackpot, Faruk-E-Azam Bir Protik, who is currently in the United States. He is expected to take the oath after returning to the country.
