Ali Imam Majumder appointed as special assistant to Chief Advisor

Former Cabinet Secretary Ali Imam Majumder has been appointed as the Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor of the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

The appointment was announced in a notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Monday, August 12.

Ali Imam Majumder was born in 1950 in Nanuar Dighirpar, Comilla. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics in 1969 and his Master's degree in 1973 from the University of Chittagong.

He joined the Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Cadre in 1977 and has served in various administrative roles, including Assistant Commissioner, Upazila Executive Officer, and Additional District Magistrate, among others.

This experienced official has served as Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Employment, as well as the Ministry of Establishment. Additionally, he has held the positions of Principal Secretary in the Prime Minister's Office and Member of the Planning Commission. He also served as the Chairman of Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Sonali Bank Limited.

Since 2016, he has been a member of the Trustee Board of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) and has been serving as the Secretary-General since 2020. Currently, he is working as a consultant on various projects of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
