Salman F. Rahman, the former adviser on private industry and investment to ex-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and former Law Minister Anisul Huq have been arrested. They were apprehended by law enforcement authorities from Sadarghat on Tuesday evening.
On August 13, Tuesday, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md. Mainul Hasan confirmed the information to the media.
He stated that they were arrested from the Sadarghat area of the capital.
He also mentioned that they were arrested this afternoon in connection with a case at the Newmarket police station in the capital.
Amidst the uprising of students and public surrounding the quota reform movement, Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country on August 5. Subsequently, ministers and other leaders from Sheikh Hasina’s government went into hiding. Although news of Salman F. Rahman’s arrest emerged today, earlier Indian media had claimed that he had left the country with Sheikh Hasina.
