Contractual appointments of 10 secretaries canceled

Out of a total of 19 full secretaries appointed on a contractual basis, the appointments of 10 have been canceled. Additionally, Home Secretary Jahangir Alam has been forced into mandatory retirement, according to a source in the Ministry of Public Administration. Jahangir Alam had served as the Secretary of the Election Commission during the controversial parliamentary elections on January 7 of this year.

This information was confirmed on Wednesday, August 14, through a notification from the Ministry of Public Administration, signed by Deputy Secretary Bhaskar Debnath Bappi.

The list of canceled contractual appointments includes Abu Hena Rahmatul Munim, Chairman of the National Board of Revenue; K M Abdus Salam, Secretary of the National Parliament Secretariat; A B M Aminullah Nuri, Secretary of the Road Transport Division; Lokman Hossain Miah, Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA); Satyajit Karmakar, Senior Secretary of the Planning Division; Mokammel Hossain, Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism; Begum Wahida Akhtar, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture; Md. Ali Hossain, Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology; Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir, Secretary of the Ministry of Railways; and Md. Khairul Islam, Executive Member (Secretary) of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA).
