Government has canceled the public holiday on August 15, which is observed as National Mourning Day. As a result, banks and financial institutions will remain open on this day, and transactions will proceed as usual.
On Wednesday (14 August) the Central Bank's Department of Offsite Supervision and the Financial Institutions and Markets Division issued two separate directives regarding this matter.
The directives stated that the Ministry of Public Administration had canceled the holiday for National Mourning Day on August 15 through an order issued on August 13. Consequently, all scheduled banks will remain open as usual on this day.
The Central Bank issued this directive under the powers conferred by Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.
