Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court has granted a 10-day remand for Salman F. Rahman, former Adviser on Private Industry and Investment to the deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and Anisul Huq, former Minister of Law.
On Wednesday evening (August 14), they were presented before the court by the police, who then requested a 10-day remand for a thorough investigation of the case.
After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid approved the remand.
On Tuesday, law enforcement arrested them from Sadarghat in the capital. Later that night, they were taken to the Detective Branch (DB) office of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), confirmed by a senior DB officer.
DMP Commissioner Mainul Hasan stated on Tuesday that they were shown arrested in a case filed at the New Market Police Station in Dhaka.
According to police sources, during a program organized by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement demanding quota reforms on July 16, a clash occurred in front of Dhaka College, resulting in the deaths of two people—one student and one hawker. Two murder cases have been filed at New Market Police Station regarding these killings, and Salman and Anisul were arrested as instigators of these incidents.
