Interim government's Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Adviser Nahid Hasan warned Thursday (15 August), that those who shot students and general people to death will be punished after bringing them under law.

He said this after attending the namaz-e-Janaza of Ikramul Haque Sajid, who was killed in police firing during the movement led by students.

Sajid, a student of Jagannath University, was shot on August 4 in Dhanbari upazila's Biltukdi village, Tangail, and died on August 14 in a Dhaka hospital while receiving treatment.

Speaking at the funeral, he said that Sajid's sacrifice brought new freedom and the people of Bangladesh will never forget the bravery of people like Sajid, who embraced martyrdom for the country.

He also assured that he would take full responsibility for Sajid's family from now on.

Dhanbari upazila Nirbhai Officer Mostafizur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Habibur Rahman, and upazila unit of BNP President SM Sobhan, among others, were present.
