Diplomatic Shake-up: 12 officials including ambassadors recalled to Dhaka

After the formation of the interim government, reshuffles are happening across various sectors of the country. This time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is implementing significant changes within the diplomatic sector.

Twelve officials, including seven ambassadors and high commissioners who were appointed on a contractual basis, are being recalled to headquarters. This directive was issued through separate notifications signed by D.M. Salahuddin Mahmud, the Director General of the Administration Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Wednesday (14 August).

According to the instructions, High Commissioner to Male Rear Admiral S.M. Abul Kalam Azad, Ambassador to Russia Kamrul Hasan, Ambassador to Washington Mohammad Imran, Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Javed Patwary, Ambassador to Japan Shahabuddin Ahmed, Ambassador to the UAE Abu Jafar, and Ambassador to Germany Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan are being recalled to Dhaka.

Additionally, First Secretary Wahiduzzaman Noor and Counselor Arifa Rahman Ruma in Washington, Counselor Aparna Rani Pal and Counselor Mobashwira Farzana Mithila in Ottawa, Canada, and Third Secretary Asib Uddin Ahmed in New York are also being recalled.

Separate notifications stated, "You have been transferred to the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka. Therefore, you are requested to relinquish your current responsibilities and return to Dhaka immediately."
