A case has been filed in connection with the death of Tanvir Siddiqui, a 19-year-old HSC student, in the Chandgaon area of Chattogram city. The case was lodged by the victim's uncle, Mohammad Parvez, on Saturday, August 17. Among the 34 accused in the case are former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel. Additionally, 40 to 50 unidentified individuals have also been named as accused.
According to the plaintiff, Parvez, his nephew Tanvir Siddiqui was a student of Ashekan Awlia Degree College and was peacefully protesting as part of a shutdown program on July 18. The protest, which started from Muradpur and proceeded to the Bahaddarhat market area, turned violent around 4:20 PM when the accused, allegedly following the instructions of Sheikh Hasina and Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, attacked the protesters with sharp weapons and firearms.
During the incident, Tanvir Siddiqui was shot and later pronounced dead at Chattogram Medical College Hospital. Two others, Hridoy Chandra Tarua, a student of Chattogram University, and Saimon Prakash Mahin, a pedestrian and grocery worker, also succumbed to injuries sustained during the attack.
Among the accused are suspended General Secretary of Chattogram Metropolitan Chhatra League, Nurul Azim Roni, and Chattogram City Corporation Councilors Eslarul Haque, Shaibal Das Suman, and Nur Mostafa Tinu, among others.
This marks the sixth case filed against Sheikh Hasina within the past five days.
