A Chattogram court has granted on Saturday (17 August) a three-day remand for MA Latif, former Member of Parliament from Chattogram-11 constituency.

Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Dev passed the order today (17 August) after a hearing in a case filed under the Explosives Act, CMP Deputy Commissioner AAM Humayun Kabir told The Business Standard.

"Double Mooring police had sought a seven-day remand to interrogate Latif in the case. The accused lawyers requested the dismissal of the remand plea. However, after considering arguments from both sides, the court granted a three-day remand," he added.

Fazlul Kader Patwari, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Double Mooring Police Station, said, "Yesterday morning, Latif was arrested from the Bayezid Bostami's Mazar Gate area and subsequently taken to the court."

According to the case statement, on 4 August, a man named Ershad was shot and injured in the Dewanhat area while returning from an Anti-Discrimination Student Movement event in the city's New Market area.
