Dipu Moni, former Social Welfare Minister of Bangladesh, has been arrested by a team from the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police. The arrest took place in the Baridhara area on the evening of Monday, August 19.
A DB officer involved in the operation confirmed the arrest to the media, stating that Dipu Moni will be taken to the DB office on Minto Road.
This arrest follows the recent detentions of former Law Minister Anisul Huq, Sheikh Hasina's advisor Salman F Rahman, former Information Minister Hasan Mahmud, and former ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak.
Dipu Moni has served as a Member of Parliament for Chandpur-3 since 2008, as Foreign Minister from 2009 to 2013, and as Education Minister from 2019 until earlier this year.
