The Republic of Korea has announced that it will provide $10 million in humanitarian aid to the Rohingya refugees residing in Bangladesh in 2024.

The South Korean Embassy in Dhaka shared this information on Tuesday (August 20).

The embassy stated that the humanitarian aid would be provided this year through international organizations such as UNHCR, IOM, WFP, and UNFPA in Bangladesh. Since 2017, the Republic of Korea has been cooperating with the Bangladesh government and international organizations to support the Rohingyas, providing between $3 million and $5 million annually. This year's fund is three times larger than last year's and marks the largest humanitarian assistance for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.

The Republic of Korea hopes that its funding will contribute to the implementation of the Joint Response Plan (JRP) 2024 and the necessary humanitarian support for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
