In response to their demands for job regularisation and the transfer of NID services from the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Election Commission, the outsourced officers and employees of the Election Commission's IDEA-2 project have initiated an indefinite strike. As a result, all NID services have been suspended indefinitely.

The strike began on Wednesday (August 21) at 8:30 AM, with the protesting employees staging a sit-in in front of the Election Building in Agargaon. The protesters have vowed to continue the strike until their demands are met.

Currently, 2,260 officers and employees are working under the IDEA-2 project, handling NID-related tasks at the field level.
