Diplomatic (red) passports of former Prime Ministers, Ministers, MPs, and Secretaries who were forced into retirement or had their contracts terminated have been canceled.

On Wednesday (August 21), the Security Services Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs instructed the Department of Immigration and Passports to cancel their passports.

Md. Mashiur Rahman, Senior Secretary of the Security Services Division, stated, "We have already directed the Department of Immigration and Passports (DIP) regarding this matter. They have begun the process, and an order will be issued soon."

It has been learned that once the red passports are canceled, former ministers and MPs with pending criminal cases or who have been arrested may need to undergo legal processes to obtain regular passports. In such cases, they can only apply for a regular passport after receiving a court order.

Mashiur Rahman further mentioned that if any diplomatic passport holder wishes to obtain a new passport, they must first surrender their diplomatic or red passport, after which a regular passport will be issued following legal procedures.
