About 4.5 million people in 13 districts have been affected by floods caused by heavy rains and torrential rains caused by unwary activities of India. 13 people have died so far. Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief said that 8 lakh 87 thousand 629 families are still water stranded.

Although 13 districts were affected by the severe floods of the last few days, the situation in at least 11 districts of the country is dire now. Most of these districts are now under water. The Secretary of Disaster Management and Relief Ministry, Kamrul Hasan, held a press conference at the secretariat on Friday (23 August) afternoon. He said that the flood affected districts are Feni, Comilla, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Brahmanbaria, Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Khagrachari, Sylhet, Moulvibazar and Habiganj. So far four people have died in Comilla, three in Cox's Bazar, two in Chittagong, one in Feni, one in Noakhali, one in Laxmipur and one in Brahmanbaria.
The secretary said that the forecast of the Meteorological Department has informed that the flood situation is improving at a slow pace. So far 3 crore 52 lakh cash, 20 thousand 150 metric tons of rice, 15 thousand packets of dry food have been allotted to the flood affected areas. Apart from this, army, navy, coast guard, BGB, fire service, members of the police and students of anti-discrimination student movement and various voluntary organizations including As-Sunnah Foundation are carrying out rescue work in addition to distribution of relief.
In this sudden transition of the country, people of all classes, professions and opinions have come together. Everyone is trying to stand next to the flood affected people as per their ability. Relief was collected in all mosques of the country on Friday (23 August).
Army personnel contributed one day's salary to the Chief Adviser's Relief Fund to help flood-affected people. This information was informed by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday (23 August). According to ISPR, an amount equal to one day's salary of all ranks of the Bangladesh Army has been given to the Chief Adviser's Relief Fund in support of the flood victims.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) is rescuing the flood victims stuck in the ongoing severe flood in Feni with their own helicopter. Besides, RAB members distributed medical services and relief materials among them. The matter was informed in a press release sent by RAB's media department on Friday (23 August) afternoon.
According to RAB, RAB has distributed dry food, water purification tablets, food saline and essential medicines to more than five hundred flood victims in different areas of Feni district. Apart from distribution of relief and medical services, a pregnant woman and two newborn babies were rescued from Pasuram border area of Feni and brought to safety by giving them oxygen support. Also, women, children and elderly people who were trapped in water from the flood-affected areas were rescued by RAB helicopters and transferred to a safe place.
Border Guard Bangladesh-BGB is standing by the victims of severe floods in some southeastern districts of the country. On behalf of the forces, dry food, mobile medical services and medicines have been distributed among the flood victims. BGB's media department confirmed the matter in a small message on Friday afternoon. Srimangal Battalion (46 BGB) captain Lt. Colonel Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Sikder said that on Friday (23 August) BGB has distributed dry food, free treatment and medicines among more than 600 families in Mokabil, Kurma and Champapara border areas of Kamalganj upazila of Moulvibazar district under Srimangal Battalion (46 BGB). At this time food and medical supplies were distributed by Srimangal Battalion (46 BGB) captain Lt. Colonel Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Sikder.
Meanwhile, the anti-discrimination student movement carried out relief collection activities at TSC of Dhaka University throughout the day. Hasnat Abdullah, coordinator of anti-discrimination student movement, said that in addition to collecting relief, rescue operations were also carried out by the organization. He appealed to the countrymen to come forward to help the flood victims.
13 south-eastern districts of the country including Feni, Comilla, Noakhali have faced severe floods. Millions of people are drowning in water released by India and heavy rains. They were in touch on mobile phones. But, communication has also stopped from Thursday afternoon. Because most of these areas do not have electricity, the mobile network service has stopped. As a result, anxiety is increasing. In addition to saving their relatives who are stuck in different villages in Feni and Comilla, members of several Facebook groups have stated that they would like to bring food to those who are still struck at home.
Many people are raising awareness by sharing various information on Facebook. Some people are attracting everyone's attention by posting their phone numbers about how many teams of army, police and students are carrying out the rescue activities in some areas. Many people are responding to such requests on Facebook. In the meantime, the members of various Facebook groups joined together, hired trawlers and left for Feni and Comilla at night with relief. In the meantime, many groups are preparing to go.
