Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged the newly graduated cadres of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) to utilise their talents and innovative ideas to transform the country into a developed, prosperous, and smart one by 2041.
Calling upon the fresh BCS cadres to work towards achieving this vision, she also emphasised that her government's goal was to provide the people of the country with a better life.
The premier came up with the clarion call while addressing the certificate giving ceremony meant for the 74th foundation training course of the BCS officers at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in the capital.
The PM also emphasised the importance of maintaining the current pace of development, pointing out the tremendous progress that has been made in Bangladesh over the last 14 years.
She called upon the new officers to work towards implementing the Delta Plan-2100, a government initiative aimed at protecting Bangladesh from the adverse effects of climate change.
Terming the new officers as the soldiers of 2041, Sheikh Hasina expressed her confidence that they would play a crucial role in building a smart country. She also highlighted Bangladesh's transformation from a neglected nation to a role model of development, attributing this success to her government's timely measures.
Overall, the Prime Minister's message was one of encouragement and optimism, urging the new officers to contribute their best efforts towards the development of Bangladesh.
Amidst the ongoing economic recession caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine war, and various sanctions, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reiterated her call for the people of Bangladesh to practice austerity when it comes to using electricity, water, and gas.
She emphasized the need for savings and urged everyone to become more economical as the global prices of essentials continue to skyrocket with no end to the war in sight.
Addressing the new BCS officers, the Prime Minister urged them to work for the welfare of the country and its people with a sense of belonging, following the ideal of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the spirit of the Liberation War.
She called upon them to expedite development works to turn Bangladesh into a hunger-and-poverty free state as envisioned by Bangabandhu.
As part of the government's initiative to provide a better life for the people, she highlighted the Ashrayan project, which aims to provide houses to every landless and homeless person in the country. She expressed her gratitude to government officers for their sincere efforts in implementing the project.
State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain, Senior Secretary of the Ministry Mohammed Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury, and BPATC Rector Md Ashraf Uddin also spoke at the function.
