Brigadier General (Retd.) M Sakhawat Hossain, an advisor to the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, distributed aid among the flood victims in Feni and Cumilla districts.
On Sunday, August 25, during a relief distribution event at the Mohipal Cantonment in Feni and Alekhachar in Cumilla, Advisor M Sakhawat said, "The flood situation in Feni and Cumilla is improving. The interim government is working sincerely to control the floods and alleviate the suffering of the flood-affected people."
Present at the event were Brigadier General Md. Ziaul Haque, Chairman of Bangladesh Textile Mills Corporation; Musammat Shahina Akhtar, Deputy Commissioner of Feni; Khandaker Md. Mushfiqur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Comilla; Saidul Islam, Superintendent of Police; M Safak Hossain, President of H&H Foundation; Brigadier General Shamsul Arefin of Mohipal Cantonment; Abul Hossain, Chairman of Bangladesh Jute Mills Association; Tapas Pramanik, Vice Chairman of Bangladesh Jute Spinners Association; and Farhad Ahmed Akhand, Chairman of Bangladesh Jute Association, among others.
Notably, a total of around 7,700 families received relief, facilitated by Advisor M Sakhawat’s initiative and supported by the Bangladesh Jute Mills Association, Bangladesh Jute Spinners Association, Bangladesh Jute Association, H&H Foundation, SS Group, PSO, Pran RFL, and BGMEA. The relief items included rice, flattened rice, puffed rice, molasses, biscuits, chips, candles, lighters, molasses-coated puffed rice, saline, water purification tablets, alum, and other essentials.
