Chief Adviser Yunus Takes Charge of Six Departments

Cabinet Division issued a notification today, Tuesday (August 27), announcing the redistribution of responsibilities among the members of the interim government. According to the new decision, Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has been assigned the responsibility of six ministries, which are the Cabinet Division, Ministry of Defence, Armed Forces Division, Ministry of Food, Ministry of Public Administration, and the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.

On the other hand, Adviser Saleh Uddin Ahmed has been given charge of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce, and the Ministry of Science and Technology. Adviser Hasan Arif will oversee the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, and the Ministry of Land.

Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. M Sakhawat Hossain has been assigned the Ministry of Textiles and Jute and the Ministry of Shipping, while Adviser Sharmin S. Murshid will be responsible for the Ministry of Social Welfare and the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.

It is noteworthy that after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the country amidst protests, President Md. Sahabuddin dissolved the parliament and appointed Nobel laureate economist Dr. Muhammad Yunus as the Chief Adviser of the interim government, along with 16 other advisers. Subsequently, four more advisers were added to the interim government.

After taking the oath on August 8, Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus initially held the responsibilities of 27 ministries. Following the inclusion of the new advisers, the responsibilities within the interim government were redistributed, and now, they have been reassigned once again.
