The interim government will not waste unnecessary time in organizing the national parliamentary elections, stated Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. He made this remark on Saturday, August 31, during a discussion with representatives of various political parties at his residence, Jamuna.

He also urged the Islamic parties to remain vigilant during the upcoming Durga Puja to prevent any disruptions, maintaining communal harmony.

The meeting, which began at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the state guest house Jamuna, continued for five consecutive hours until 8 p.m. The parties involved in the discussion with the Chief Advisor included the Khilafat Majlis, Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Nationalist Alliance, Bangladesh JASAD, the 12-Party Alliance, Gano Forum, and the Jatiya Party.

Following the fall of the Awami League government due to a student-led movement on August 5, the interim government, led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, took charge on August 8. This government was formed through discussions with various parties and the military, excluding the Awami League.

While the main opposition party BNP has welcomed this government, the party's Secretary General, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, has been calling for an "urgent" dialogue on the elections since August 24.

Last Thursday, a BNP delegation, led by Mirza Fakhrul, met with the Chief Advisor. Following the meeting, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir informed reporters that the Chief Advisor would engage in discussions with political parties in phases.
