Interim Government's Chief Adviser, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, is set to embark on a brief visit to New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly, as announced by Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain. He shared this information during a press briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday, September 1.

In response to a question about Dr. Yunus's participation in the UN General Assembly, the Foreign Affairs Adviser confirmed the decision, stating, "The Chief Adviser is indeed going to the United Nations General Assembly. I am about to discuss this with him. However, he will make a very brief visit and return quickly. While he might have been able to conduct more activities if he went to Washington, he will be returning shortly after his time in New York."

When asked about the exact date of Dr. Yunus's departure to New York, Touhid Hossain indicated that the details would become clearer with time.

Inquiries about the meetings planned during the visit led the Foreign Affairs Adviser to remark, "Meetings will naturally take place. Some discussions are ongoing. I can confirm that a few meetings will occur, but I can't specify with whom. Not all heads of state attend every event. The format in New York will be different, and he will not be visiting Washington."

Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Nobel Prize-winning economist, took the oath as Chief Adviser of the interim government on August 8, following the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government amidst a popular uprising. This marks his first foreign visit since assuming the role of Chief Adviser.
