Bangladesh Supreme Court has issued a notice on Wednesday (11 September) to judicial officers while advising them to exercise how to avoid social media use.
All the Judges have been instructed from posting, commenting or sharing content that could be deemed violation in their professional duty surface.
The notice, published by the High Court Division of the Supreme Court, warned that actions contrary to the guidelines would lead to disciplinary measures in accordance with the law.
According to the statement, it has come to the attention of the Supreme Court that certain judicial officers have been using social media during official work hours.
Some have even posted negative comments regarding their employing and controlling authorities, which is considered a breach of job discipline and tantamount to professional misconduct.
The Supreme Court reiterated that any failure to heed the directive would be regarded as a violation of judicial service rules. The court clarified that such conduct could result in legal action under the existing Bangladesh Judicial Service Rules and other applicable laws.
The notice serves as a firm reminder to the judiciary of the importance of upholding professional standards and maintaining the integrity of their roles both in and out of court.
