Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Nahid Islam on Thursday (12 September) said a commission will be formed after consultation with mass media.
A reform commission will be formed which later will be turned into a commission, he told reporters at a press briefing held at the Secretariat here.
He said the policies will be formulated in such a way that the media can operate independently and strategy would be decided in consultation with the stakeholders.
Nahid said policies regarding mass media, which are being criticized, will be amended, or the entire law will be repealed after scrutiny. Appropriate measures will be taken so that no law can create contradiction in the way of freedom of the mass media, he added.
He said an inquiry commission has been formulated to investigate into the incidence of the disappearances and harassment of journalists during the previous government.
Information and Broadcasting senior secretary Md Humayun Kabir Khandaker, ICT Division secretary Md Samsul Arefin and Post and Telecommunications Division secretary Dr Md Mushfiqur Rahman, among others, were present.
