Four people were killed in separate road accidents in Chattogram and Magura districts on Monday night.

In Chattogram, two people died and at least nine were injured, when a brick-laden truck lost control and crashed into a roadside shop near Shah Amanat Bridge.

One of the deceased was identified as Bikash (24). The identity of the other was not immediately known.

Witnesses said the truck heading to New Market lost control and hit a CNG and a motorcycle before smashing into some adjacent shops. Two people died here. The number of casualties may increase, said Karnaphuli Police Station.

Sub-Inspector Nurul Alam Ashiq of Chattogram Medical College Hospital Police Outpost confirmed that 11 people were admitted to the hospital, and two were pronounced dead by the doctors when brought there. Efforts are underway to identify the victims, he added.

In Magura, two motorcyclists were killed, and one severely injured in a three-vehicle collision involving a private car, a motorcycle, and an easy-bike in the Kashinathpur signboard area of the Magura-Jhenaidah highway.

The deceased were identified as Sunny Biswas, 18, son of late Pikul Biswas and Mohib Biswas, 17, son of Kamruzzaman Biswas of Gouricharanpur village in Sadar upazila. The injured, Borhan Molya (17), is currently receiving treatment at Faridpur Medical College Hospital in critical condition.

According to Officer-in-Charge Gautam Kumar of Ramnagar Highway Police, the three were on the same motorcycle, heading towards Magura town from their home in Gauricharanpur, Hajipur Union. Upon reaching the accident site, they lost control of the motorcycle and collided with an easy-bike, throwing all three onto the road. A private car coming from the opposite direction then ran over them.

Both the private car and motorcycle involved in the accident have been seized by the highway police.
