Japanese ambassador IWAMA Kiminori on Wednesday said that the Japanese government continued to negotiate for an Economic Partnership Agreement as a part of strengthening economic ties with Bangladesh.
The Japanese ambassador made these remarks while addressing a view exchange with the business leaders at Chattogram chamber’s seminar hall. The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised the view exchange meeting.
Ambassador IWAMA Kiminori said Japan was always identifying areas of cooperation to further strengthen the relationship between the two countries and they were emphasizing on G2B communication.
“Due to its geographical location, Chattogram is referred to as the strategic hub of Bangladesh and South Asia. There are many famous Japanese companies in Chattogram who have been working for more than 30 years,” the ambassador mentioned.
However, ambassador IWAMA Kiminori assured their full cooperation in product diversification and human resource development in expanding foreign investment in Chattogram.
CCCI’s administrator and additional divisional commissioner (general) Mohammad Anwar Pasha presided over the view exchange meeting while CCCI’s former senior vice-president and Chattogram city unit Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s convener Arshad Ullah, former vice president Sayed Mohammad Tanvir, honorary consul general of Turkey Salahuddin Kasem Khan, country representative of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in Bangladesh Yuji Ando, honorary consul general off Japan Nurul Islam, Lub-rref’s managing director Mohammed Yousuf, among others, addressed the meeting.
The Japanese embassy’s first secretary and head of economic affairs and development Mochida Yutaro, CCCI’s former director Amzad Hossain Chowdhury, honorary consul general of Philippines MA Awal, among others, were present at the view exchange.
